Permabond ET5428 – High-Strength Two-Part Epoxy for Composite Bonding

Permabond ET5428 is a high-strength, rubber-toughened two-part epoxy adhesive for structural bonding of composites, metals, plastics, ceramics and wood. It has been developed for applications requiring a combination of high bond strength, excellent peel resistance and outstanding resistance to impact, vibration and environmental exposure.

The lightly thixotropic formulation is easy to dispense, provides excellent flow control and is suitable for vertical applications and gap filling up to 5 mm. The mixing ratio is 2:1 by volume. At 23°C, ET5428 offers a working life of 10–20 minutes and reaches handling strength within approximately 30–45 minutes.

Its high toughness enables the adhesive to compensate for differences in thermal expansion between dissimilar substrates. This creates durable bonds capable of withstanding dynamic loads, shocks, vibration and temperature cycling. ET5428 provides good heat resistance for an epoxy adhesive and can be used at temperatures up to approximately 120°C.

Typical applications include automotive components, transportation, machinery, aerospace interiors, marine structures, energy equipment, façades and construction elements. ET5428 is available in cream and black, making it particularly suitable for bonding carbon fibre, GRP, FRP, aluminium, steel, stainless steel, polycarbonate and PEEK.
