Smart Magnetic Guard Lock HOLDX R
The innovative magnetic process locks HOLDX RS1 and HOLDX RL1 combine a secure non-contact RFID safety sensor with an intelligent electromagnet in just one device. With this combination of safe position monitoring and process guard locking, the HOLDX RS1 and RL1 can be used universally and ensure increased quality and less downtime and set-up times. The smart process guard locking HOLDX R communicates with your standard PLC via the diagnostic outputs or via the built-in Bluetooth interface with your mobile phone or laptop. It also enables quick and easy diagnostics with LEDs on both sides and, as a networkable variant, can be connected in series without losing diagnostic options.

Smart Pneumatic Indexing Plungers
Hanser is expanding its range of indexing plungers with a technical treat. The newest addition, type GN 817.7, is pneumatically actuated and can be seamlessly integrated into automated processes thanks to state-of-the-art sensors. There aren’t actually any indexing plunger variants lacking from Hanser’s portfolio. Nevertheless, the development team consistently succeeds in integrating new functionality that opens up new application possibilities. The most recent indexing plunger development is pneumatically actuated. Plus, the part also detects both end positions with just a single sensor. This makes GN 817.7 a logical advancement over the manually operated indexing plunger GN 817.6. The new variant can also be used in hard-to-reach locations and can be integrated into automated processes. What’s more, GN 817.7 can be used as a replacement for GN 817.6 without any changes in dimensioning or signal processing. The position detection of GN 817.7 is once again based on proven magnet technology but with some important new innovations. Not only are both end positions now detected but they can also be individually defined. The sensor teaching can be performed directly on-site with a small operating element on the sensor, which is held in place by a clip and supported by a cable. There are even LEDs for visual feedback. The other option for teaching is to use the convenient IO-Link feature via the system control unit. This standardized interface makes teaching a quick affair and also allows for immediate replacement in the case of faults, which significantly reduces downtime. The high signals upon reaching the respective end positions are transmitted directly over the 4-pin M8 cable plug to the control unit of the system.

SMART Safety System
BERNSTEIN supplies the system solution for the complete safeguarding of machines and thus offers the complete package of intelligent electronic safety technology. The SMART Safety System includes, for example, the non-contact RFID safety sensor SRF, the electronic emergency stop SEU and the safety evaluations SCR P and SCR DI. During development, BERNSTEIN attached particular importance to the patented DCD diagnostic system, which collects extensive data from each connected device and makes them available centrally and flexibly in the sense of intelligent production.

ABB’s new condition monitoring solution for low voltage motors A new era of remote condition monitoring for low voltage motors has arrived. ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor picks up data on vibration, temperature and other parameters and uses it to reduce motor downtime by up to 70 percent, extend lifetime by as much as 30 percent and lower energy use by up to 10 percent. ABB has developed a compact ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor that is attached to the frame of low voltage induction motors. No wiring is needed. Using on-board algorithms, based on ABB’s decades of motor expertise, the ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor relays information about the motor’s health, via a smartphone and over the internet, to a secure server. This solution can make huge numbers of motors into smart devices, enabling them to benefit from intelligent services.

As fast as a snap of the fingers! With SNAP IN, installation and maintenance work can be completed as quickly as a snap of the fingers. The principle of the new connection is as simple as its handling: the stripped conductor is plugged directly into an open connection point and the snap connection locks into place with a click. The reverse is just as quick. By simply operating the lever, the connection point can be opened again and the connected conductor can be removed.
