Energieeffizienz: Nicht ob, sondern wann und wie stark sich die Energie verteuert, stellt sich als Frage. Aus langfristigen Überlegungen wurden daher nur energieeffiziente Betriebsmittel installiert. Als Beispiel sind die Steuerungs- und Antriebskomponenten (Frequenzumrichter und Motoren) zu erwähnen.

Es lohnt sich grosse Lebensmittel-Mengen mit einem hohen Automatisierungsgrad zu verarbeiten. Merkmale wie Batchverarbeitung, Chargen, Rezepturen oder die Rückverfolgbarkeit ergänzen die Steuerungs- und Regelfunktionen.
