Description

ABB is the first company to achieve the expected IE6 hyperefficiency with magnet-free motors
Press release | Ladenburg, Germany | 2024-11-08

Proven synchronous reluctance motor technology is the first magnet-free design to achieve IE6 hyperefficiency – an expected efficiency level that, according to ABB’s definition, has 20 percent lower energy losses than comparable IE5 motors.
Magnet-free synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM) are part of a comprehensive technology portfolio that also includes permanent magnet motors for a wide range of applications.

ABB is the first manufacturer to offer the expected IE6 efficiency class in a magnet-free SynRM design. This is the latest development of the proven SynRM technology, which ABB pioneered back in 2011. The motors are designed to appeal to customers who want to future-proof their equipment with the highest energy efficiency class available on the market. Early adopters of IE6 hyper-efficiency motors will benefit from lower energy costs and increased productivity while exceeding current sustainability targets.
